Don Toliver Baltimore Concert reviews
An assault on the senses
Visually this show had it all: a towering "titan", choirs, a brass band, suits made of shimmering lights, and dancing robots, along with a gauntlet shooting lasers, spaceships, zombies. The music is why I keep going back to Don Toliver's shows again and again, as the show was just the icing on the cake. Matt Bellamy delivered thunderous chords in Break It To Me, played piano in Dig Down, shredded though New Born, pushed the limits of what a guitar (and a digital whammy!) can do in Unsustainable, and delivered soaring operatic vocals in Uprising. While Chris and Dom showed off their considerable skill in songs like Hysteria, Futurism, and Assassin, Matt was the star of the show. Their skills as performers are undeniable, regardless of whether or not you like Muse's music. I've been to a lot of concerts, including several Don Toliver shows, but I have never seen anything like this. I'm worried I will never see another show that can top it. 12/10.
